Updated Halloween Part 2Verified on the official Steal An Egg page on Roblox
Rainbow is the strongest Steal An Egg mutation you can still get, at 3.5x income, and it lands on roughly 1 in every 100 hatches. As of October 30, 2026 the game has 11 known mutations, from Silver (1.2x) up to Rainbow, and the Halloween-only Spectral (2.75x) is the best one you can actively farm right now.
A mutation is a permanent color effect on a pet that multiplies the cash it makes every second, and it’s the biggest reason two copies of the same pet can earn wildly different amounts. If you’re newer to the platform, our complete Roblox guide covers the basics, and the Steal An Egg hub has everything else about the game. This page is only about mutations: what each one pays today, how to get it and how many tries it really takes.
| Known mutations | 11 (plus the Robux-only Luminous re-roll) |
| Best you can roll | Rainbow, 3.5x, about 1% of hatches |
| Best you can farm right now | Spectral, 2.75x, Halloween event only |
| Weakest | Silver, 1.2x, the most common roll |
| Chance a normal hatch has any color | About 11 in 100 |
| Do they stack? | Yes, but they add together instead of multiplying |
| Mutation codes | None. Steal An Egg has no codes |
All Steal An Egg Mutations and Their Multipliers
Here’s every mutation the community has documented, sorted from the biggest payout to the smallest, with where it comes from and whether you can actually get it today. Multipliers are the current values; if you’ve seen different numbers elsewhere, the next section explains why.
| Mutation | Multiplier | Where it comes from | Can you get it now? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rainbow | 3.5x | Random roll on wild eggs and hatches, Fuse Machine, Admin Abuse | Yes, always |
| Parasite | 3x | Parasite Egg from the Hungry Frog event | No, the event ended |
| Enchanted | About 2.75x to 2.8x (not confirmed) | Enchanted Essence from butterflies in the Enchanted Forest, 100% success | Yes, during Butterfly Bloom |
| Spectral | 2.75x | Consumable bought with Souls on the Phantom Express, 25% per use | Yes, Halloween only |
| Fractured | 2.75x | Mutation Consumable from the Rift Boss Shop, 10% per use | Yes, when the Rift is open |
| Scrambled | 2.75x | Consumable from Dr. Scramble’s shop, 10% per use | Only while Dr. Scramble runs |
| Golden | 2.5x | Random roll on wild eggs and hatches, Fuse Machine, Admin Abuse | Yes, always |
| Spirit Bloom | 2.5x | Sakura Incubator in Cherry Blossom, 2.5% of charged eggs | Yes, endgame |
| Nitro | Not confirmed | Consumable bought with Nitro Race Trophies, 10% per use | Only while the Nitro Race runs |
| Bloom | 1.25x | Sakura Incubator in Cherry Blossom, 97.5% of charged eggs | Yes, endgame |
| Silver | 1.2x | Random roll on wild eggs and hatches, Fuse Machine, Admin Abuse | Yes, always |
Notice the cluster at 2.75x. The developer tends to give each new event mutation the same mid-high value, which means the real upgrade path for most players isn’t chasing every event item. It’s landing a Rainbow, then stacking one event mutation on top of the best egg you own.
Why Do Other Guides Say Spirit Bloom Is 3x?
Because they were written before the developer rebalanced the multipliers. Early guides from August and September list Spirit Bloom as the best mutation at 3x, but later updates cut the Sakura mutations and buffed the natural ones, which is why Rainbow sits on top today.
| Mutation | Old guides say | What it pays now | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rainbow | 2.5x | 3.5x | Buffed |
| Golden | 2x | 2.5x | Buffed |
| Spirit Bloom | 3x | 2.5x | Nerfed |
| Bloom | 1.5x | 1.25x | Nerfed |
| Silver | 1.25x | 1.2x | Slightly nerfed |
That flip changes real decisions. Under the old numbers, grinding the Sakura Incubator was the endgame. Under the current ones, a lucky Rainbow from a nest beats a Spirit Bloom, and a Bloom roll is barely better than nothing. Values can move again with any Saturday update, so the money-per-second number shown on your own pet always beats any chart, ours included.
How Do You Get Silver, Golden and Rainbow?
You find them by luck: some eggs spawn in the biome nests already mutated, and any hatch can roll one. The community wiki puts the roll weights at 6 in 100 for Silver, 4 in 100 for Golden and 1 in 100 for Rainbow, so about 89 out of every 100 hatches come out with no color at all.
The good news is you can see it before you commit. A mutated egg sitting in a nest has a different, glowing shell: silver, gold or a shifting rainbow. That’s worth a detour. A Rainbow egg from a cheaper biome can out-earn a plain egg from the next one, so grab it first and steal the rest after.
- Scan nests before grabbing. A tinted shell is the only free mutation in the game, and it’s on the egg before anyone carries it.
- Play during Admin Abuse. The community reports far more mutated and high-tier eggs during these short developer events, which usually run right before a weekly update.
- Use the Fuse Machine for spares. Fusing three plain copies of the same pet can roll Silver, Golden or Rainbow on the new egg, but it’s a gamble, covered below.
How Do You Get the Spectral Mutation?
You trade 500 Souls for a Spectral Mutation consumable on the Phantom Express, then use it on an egg for a 25% chance at 2.75x. The Souls only drop in the ghost area the train takes you to, and the ticket comes from a one-time quest in the Halloween Dimension, which the community says needs around 2.5M Speed to enter.
- Enter the Halloween Dimension through the portal next to the Trails Shop at spawn.
- Talk to Echo, the ghost dog, and find his four lost items around the map.
- Return the items, follow Echo to the Ghost Fisherman on the Haunted Swamp pier and take the Haunted Rod.
- Clear the fishing course to its chest to unlock the Phantom Express Ticket.
- Hold the ticket at the Haunted Swamp station and press Board Train when it arrives, roughly every 30 minutes.
- Grab the Ghost Vacuum and catch spirits for Souls before the train leaves again.
- Trade 500 Souls at the Soul Extractor for one consumable, then use it on an egg back at your base.
Two things have changed since launch, which is why older guides disagree: the consumable used to cost 1,000 Souls, and the ticket used to get punched on every ride. Now it costs 500 and the ticket stays in your inventory, so you only do Echo’s quest once. Red Vengeful Spirits and the Ghouler boss pay the most Souls, so chase those and vacuum the small ones while you wait.
Heads up: Spectral is tied to the Halloween event, and the developer hasn’t posted a closing date for the Halloween Dimension as of October 30. Any consumables you want, buy them while the train is still running.
How Many Tries Does a Mutation Really Take?
More than most players budget for. A 25% Spectral roll takes 4 consumables on average and 9 to be over 90% sure, while every 10% item takes 10 on average and 22 for that same 90% confidence. Failed tries still burn the item, so plan your currency around the bad-luck number, not the average.
| Mutation item | Price per try | Chance | Average cost per success | Budget to be 90% sure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spectral consumable | 500 Souls | 25% | 2,000 Souls (4 tries) | 4,500 Souls (9 tries) |
| Fractured (Mutation Consumable) | 400 Boss Tokens | 10% | 4,000 Boss Tokens (10 tries) | 8,800 Boss Tokens (22 tries) |
| Scrambled | 475 Samples | 10% | 4,750 Samples (10 tries) | 10,450 Samples (22 tries) |
| Nitro | 475 Trophies | 10% | 4,750 Trophies (10 tries) | 10,450 Trophies (22 tries) |
| Spirit Bloom (Sakura Incubator) | One charged egg | 2.5% | 40 charged eggs | 91 charged eggs |
| Enchanted Essence | Butterfly trade | 100% | 1 try | 1 try |
We worked these out from the published chances; the game doesn’t show them. Two takeaways. Spectral is the best deal on the board right now, at four times the odds of any 10% item for the same 2.75x. And Enchanted is the only guaranteed mutation in the game, which makes it the safest choice for an egg you can’t afford to waste.
Common mistake: using a consumable on a pet that already hatched, or on an egg you’re still carrying. Mutation items only work on an unhatched egg placed in your base, and not inside the safe zone. Equip the item, stand next to the egg and use the Apply Mutation prompt. If your pets are in the way, hide them first.
Do Mutations Stack in Steal An Egg?
Yes, a pet can carry more than one mutation, but the bonuses add together instead of multiplying. Each mutation adds its bonus on top of the pet’s normal 1x, so Golden (+1.5) with Rainbow (+2.5) gives 5x, not the 8.75x you’d get by multiplying.
| Combo | Real total (added) | What multiplying would wrongly give |
|---|---|---|
| Golden + Spectral | 4.25x | 6.88x |
| Fractured + Scrambled | 4.5x | 7.56x |
| Rainbow + Spirit Bloom | 5x | 8.75x |
| Rainbow + Spectral | 5.25x | 9.63x |
There are two known ways to put two mutations on one pet. Drop an egg that already has Silver, Golden or Rainbow into the Sakura Incubator, and the community reports it keeps that color and gains Bloom or Spirit Bloom. Or use two different event consumables on the same unhatched egg, one after the other, which is how players build Fractured plus Scrambled pets. Size is a separate thing: a heavier-than-normal pet multiplies its whole mutated income again, which is why big mutated pets get so absurd.
Can You Lose a Mutation in the Fuse Machine?
Yes. The Fuse Machine eats three copies of the same pet and gives back one egg of that species with a new size roll, and a mutation on just one of the inputs is very likely to disappear. The only fusion the community trusts with mutated pets is three copies that all share the same mutation, which usually keeps it on the result.
So treat the machine as a way to recycle plain duplicates for a shot at Silver, Golden or Rainbow, never as a home for your one Rainbow. The two-player Divine fusions are a different system with their own rules, and our Steal An Egg tier list covers which of those are worth doing.
Which Egg Should Get Your Mutation?
Put it on the egg with the highest base income you own, ideally a heavy one, because a mutation multiplies whatever it lands on. A 2.75x on a pet earning $1B/s adds far more than the same roll on a $5M/s pet, and you only get one result per success.
| If you… | Do this | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Just reached a new biome | Save your consumables | Your next pets will out-earn anything you’d mutate today |
| Have a Divine or Eternal egg growing | Use your best consumable on it | The bigger the base, the bigger the payoff from each success |
| Hatched a heavy pet with no color | Keep it; don’t fuse it | The community wiki estimates a pet about 8x its normal weight already earns about as much as a Rainbow |
| Can’t risk a failed roll | Go for Enchanted | It’s the only 100% mutation |
| Only have early-game eggs | Focus on Speed instead | Reaching the next biome beats any mutation on a small pet |
Not sure which of your pets has the best base income? The tier list ranks every pet by it, and our Steal An Egg beginner guide lays out the Speed you need for each biome.
Is the Sakura Incubator Still Worth It?
Only once you’re comfortable in Cherry Blossom. After the nerfs, 97.5% of charged eggs come out with Bloom at a weak 1.25x, and just 2.5% get Spirit Bloom at 2.5x, which is still below a natural Rainbow. Its real value now is as a second mutation on an egg that already has a color.
Unlocking it is a one-time job. Hatch a Crane (an Epic pet from Cherry Blossom eggs), hand it to the incubator at the far end of the biome, and it stays open for good. After that you place an egg, feed it Sakura Crystals until the charge hits at least 100% and press mutate. The crystals come from trees you break with your bat during the Great Bloom, a short event that repeats in Cherry Blossom about every 30 minutes.
Which Mutations Can’t You Get Anymore?
Parasite is the only one fully gone. It came from Parasite Eggs that the Hungry Frog dropped during a past event, so the only Parasite pets left are the ones players already hatched. Scrambled and Nitro come back only when their events run, so check the event board before you count on them.
Luminous is the odd one out. It isn’t a mutation you apply. The Robux Luminous Egg has a 1% chance to re-roll a hatch into the Luminous version of that pet, a higher-rarity animal with its own income, which some guides list as a 10x mutation. It’s a paid lottery, and we’d spend Robux on things you’re guaranteed to get.
Heads up: sites selling Rainbow or double-mutated Steal An Egg pets for real money break Roblox’s rules and can cost you your account. Every mutation on this page can be earned in the game. More on staying safe is in our Steal An Egg guide.
How We Checked These Numbers
The developer doesn’t publish an official mutation list, so on October 30, 2026 we compared the community wiki against several current guides and only printed a value when at least two independent sources matched. Where they still disagree, we say so:
- Enchanted: listed at 2.75x by some sources and 2.8x by others; the official notes only confirm its 100% success chance.
- Nitro: one source says 2.75x, but nobody has confirmed it, so we leave it blank.
- Spectral price: 1,000 Souls at launch and 500 now; read the Soul Extractor before you farm.
- Size math: the community wiki’s income formula is still labeled beta, so treat any weight estimate as rough.
Steal An Egg Mutations FAQ
What is the rarest mutation in Steal An Egg?
Among mutations you can still get, Rainbow is the rarest natural roll at about 1 in 100 hatches. Parasite is rarer in practice, because its event is over and no new copies can be made.
Are there Steal An Egg codes for free mutations?
No. Steal An Egg has no code system at all, so any site offering mutation codes is fake. Our Steal An Egg codes page lists the free rewards that do exist.
Do mutations change a pet’s rarity?
No. A mutation changes the pet’s look and its income, not its rarity tier. The Luminous re-roll is the exception that confuses people: it swaps the pet for a different, higher-rarity Luminous animal.
